"Linux must become simple to use"
Linus Torvalds

"Free software should not be for hackers only, it should be for everyone"
Richard Stallman

By the end of 1998 all major RDBMS had a Linux version. But Linux can go far beyond being simply a server operating system. It can go in houses, in small companies and in the desktop. Everywhere. More exactly it could go everywhere if it were simple to use and if it adapted to a different environment than the one traditional in Unix. But Linux is still too complex for most people, and also, houses, small companies and desktops are uncharted territory for Unix. Linux needs specific solutions to go into these areas (look at Think Linux and the FAQ for a more detailed explanation).

We don't want Linux to remain something enjoyed by a small elite while millions of people are left at the mercy of the Blue Screen of Death. We don't want Linux remaining in a small programmers ghetto.

Contributing.

It is a common misconception that only programmers can do any good in a project like this. Noting farther from truth. While we have some tasks for programmers (and many unlisted), Indy aims at making a Linux who is more realistic and adequate for the Linux user. That means that from expertise in system administration to ability to write good texts whatever your skills you can help Indy in important non programming tasks.
