We currently have one mailing list. If you are interested in contributing to the project, subscribe to our mailing list as follows :
Send an email to majordomo@seul.org with an empty subject line , and subscribe independence-l in the body.

ANYONE can help. You needn't be a programmer. We need:

  • Foreign language speakers
  • People to test and review software
  • People to contribute to the website
  • People to help make RPMs.
  • People to download and test our packages.
  • People to do all kinds of other odd jobs.
  • Programmers are still welcome (-:

How familiar are you with the standard UNIX tools ?
Very familiar. Can write shell scripts, perl scripts, awk scripts, sed scripts, you name it, I can do it !
Reasonably familiar. Familiar with writing shell scripts. Understand regular expressions.
I know what grep does

What is your web design knowledge like ?
Very familiar. Can write cgi scripts in one of shell, perl, tcl; some familiarity with java script, and a general grasp on the "advanced" side of HTML
Reasonably familiar. Can confidently churn out html without having to look at a book all the time.
Some familiarity with it. I have a basic idea how it works, but can't remember the tags.

How do your sys admin skill rate ?
Experienced sys admin, reasonably familiar with all the guts of the system. Experienced with things like setting up network services, good knowledge of the "guts" of the system
Mildly familiar. Can set up a web server or ftp server etc. Not terribly experienced as a sys admin.
Good understanding of linux on a stand alone system, but not much beyond that.
I'm relatively new to UNIX
How much experience do you have packaging RPMs?
Can make RPMs of practically any kind of package, including ones that require post installation scripts, daemons started, changes to environment and system configuration
Built RPMs before but not terribly familiar with it.
Familiar with scripting but not building RPMs
Sorry, this one's beyond me.
Are you familiar with graphics tools ?
Yes. I am a GIMPer , and also familiar with several other graphics tools such as rendering/modelling packages, etc.
Fairly good knowledge of GIMP and image editors.
Some knowledge regarding using basic image editors.
Not much experience.
How do you rate as a programmer ?
Experienced programmer, familiar with several languages and several programming toolkits.
Decent foundation in programming. Some experience.

I am a complete non-programmer.

How much time are you willing commit to the project ?
I am a liberal arts student. Give me something useful to do !!!
Sufficient to contribute on a regular basis
A little. Will be able to help out with minor tasks every now and then.
None. I am on the board of Coca Cola and Microsoft (-: and BHP and ...
